Elegance (an allusion to the mathematical concept) is about sifting through a large array of hypothetical solutions to a problem, including unconventional ones, and assessing the leanest, fastest and usually least costly solution.
Recent trends in architecture are pointing towards more organic shapes. The structural core of a building used to either technically or financially constrain the shape of a building envelope. Currently, the possibility of treating the core of a building and it’s envelope differently is within reach for most projects. It is the technical know-how that is the deciding factor.
